Promotional Campaign Proposal

Spaceman

Background
1. This promotional campaign aims to build a name and image for a new skateboarding company (Spaceman).
2. This new skateboarding company would make skateboard decks initially, however would also make t-shirts, shoes and other clothing and skateboarding merchandise as the company grows. In this promotional campaign its main aim is to promote this new brands name and image.
3. The company will offer a unique skateboarding image and high quality skate products.
4. Skateboarding is all about being creative and inventive. It’s not just what moves you do but how you use your surroundings and how you create your own style. ‘Spaceman’ aims to create a unique style.
5. Other skate companies market the same products. Most advertisement is done through logos and brand names on their products; however, at skate competitions there are large billboards, signs and even ramps with logos and brand names on them. Most skate companies also give free stickers with certain products, normally shoes.

Campaign Focus
1. The objectives of this campaign are to promote the brands name and image.
2. This campaign is aimed at people who skate.
3. The target audience is male and between the age of roughly 12 to 25. The average customer will be a skateboarding male who is 17. They are interested in extreme sports and watch Alt TV and shows like Jackass.
4. Alien Workshop, Adio, Almost, Birdhouse, Blind, Circa, DVS, Element, Emerica, Enjoi, Es, Etnies, Ezekiel, Globe, Habitat, Hurley, Independent, Quicksilver, Vans, Volcom, Zero, Zoo York.

The Main Proposition
1. The campaign will sell the brand name, and the different styles of the brand. It will create interest in the brand.
2. Initially they would get skateboard decks and stickers. Clothing and other skating items would be developed later.
3. Specially designed and tested skateboard decks.
4. Top quality skateboard decks at competitive prices.
5. Pro skaters will have a character and deck based and designed around them.

Design
1. I plan on promoting the brand by relating it to pro skaters. I will do this by creating space man/robot type characters and relating them to famous skaters. By doing this whenever someone hears or sees ‘spaceman’ they will instantly relate it to pro skaters.
2. The designs would be related to the different pro skaters chosen.
3. The image will vary for different skaters. The visual references are space, robots, neon, bright, colourful, dull, dark, faded, evil, insane, crazy and warped.
